PROJECTS > Residential > Military Housing, Ministry of Defence

The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) camp base or commonly known by its Malay abbreviation, Kem Kementah, is the headquarters of the country’s military command and administration. Established since the 1960s, Kem Kementah houses the chiefs and officers of the armed forces of the three services, namely the army, air force and navy.

Located on Jalan Padang Tembak, Kem Kementah which is located in the northern outskirt of Kuala Lumpur downtown is also bordered by many other public institutions. Apart from serving as the military administrative affairs and command base, the camp also accommodates housing for the military staffs and their family members. In an effort of providing the modern and high-quality public housings for military personnel, the government has approved the construction of a new housing facility in the camp.

Consisting of a series of detached, semi-detached and apartment houses, the development is located on the northern parcel of the camp. Every type of house design has been designed and built according to the respective military ranking and entitlement; as such detached houses were reserved for the chiefs of the armed forces, while the semi-detached houses and apartments were designated for other military officers.

Designed as its own communal neighbourhood, the development also equipped with a surau, community hall, school and recreational facilities. Arranged in a cluster-linear planning layout, the house design responds to the tropical climatic design with the application of double pitch roof and deployment of multi-openings in a simple yet practical design composition.
