BIM Sharing Session with UNDIP Summer School from Indonesia
Continuing NRY Architects’ CSR efforts in education cause, our Building Information Modelling (BIM) Department headed Ts. Muhammad Hazim has expanded its outreach to more students beyond the Malaysian shores. The BIM talk session was conducted online on 27th September 2022 via Zoom platform, which was part of the summer school course conducted by the Vocational School of the Diponegoro University (UNDIP), located in Semarang, Central Java Province, Indonesia.
Known as the Vocational International Programme 2022, the programme was aimed at learning the BIM Application in the Heritage Area, with the heritage area of the Semarang Old Town being chosen as the case study area. Though conducted online, the participants were able to learn valuable lessons about the BIM application as well as experiencing the virtual tours of Semarang Old Town. The session has enticed as many as 60 participants consisting of students and faculty members from Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan.
Through his presentation, Ts. Hazim shared NRY’s expertise and involvement with BIM applications in various ongoing architectural projects, namely the KOS Airport, from the earlier commissioning stage to the multifaceted tools and collaborative process, with the possibility of utilising other gadgets, such as the VR headset. Though not very much explored, the usage of BIM in the heritage and conservation process paved a great opportunity to adopt this technology further in this branch of the built environment field.
