Seminar on IR 4.0 Steel and BIM-Based Construction Cloud for Construction Industry

NRY Architects, through BIM Department, was invited by the seminar organisers, the Malaysia Steel Institute (MSI), Autodesk and Bimage Consulting to attend the inaugural IR 4.0 Steel and BIM-Based Construction Cloud for Construction Industry Seminar. Held at Hilton Kuala Lumpur on 19th July 2022, the one-day seminar was a convergence point for many industry players, particularly in the BIM, construction and steel industries.

NRY Architects was represented by Ts. Hazim Azami, the Head of BIM and Mr. Haziq Zulkifli, from the Corporate Communication Department. The seminar attracted more than 100 people, as various speakers were featured that discussed about the IR4.0 latest technology update, used cases and best practices in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Virtual Design Construction (VDC), Common Data Environment (CDE), combinations of VR/ AR, digital twins, mobile, hardware and cloud base solutions.

Among the speakers was Ms. Amy Ooi from Autodesk AEC who shared on the BIM Based Design, Trade Coordination & Construction – Model & Documentation using Autodesk Revit & Navisworks, as these applications were primarily utilised by NRY’s BIM Department in executing a multitude of scale and type of projects.

The event was later officiated by the Honourable Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Y.B. Senator Datuk Lim Ban Hong, at around 3.00 pm, followed by a MoU ceremony between the MSI, an agency under MITI and Bimage Consulting.

A networking session was later held at the end of the seminar. Several sponsors and event partners have also set up their promotional booths, for instance, Autodesk, Matterport, VRCollab, Lenovo, UMP and so on. The seminar has given insights and input of what’s the overall BIM ecosystem with regard to the construction industry and the forthcoming Industry Revolution 4.0, as per what the Government and various stakeholders mulling over in recent years.
