In the wake of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) introduced some years ago, many facets of development and industry practices have been tuned to be sustainable or environmental-friendly. For Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, particularly in Malaysia, sustainability/green building is not uncommon that it has been established more than 12 years ago through the Green Building Index (GBI), as an industry-standard building green rating tool.

By looking into this area, a student from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) has approached NRY Architects for his study on the “Sustainable Design and Operation”, as the study is looking into the methodologies for designing sustainable sites and facilities and identifying various strategies for developing sustainable sites and facilities.

As such, our Head of Design Department, Mrs. Siti Nor Suzana Yazid was pleased to attend this online interview request for a 45-minute session with Chuar Jin Yek, a Building and Management Property student. Mrs. Suzana shares her insights about the topic, as well as NRY Architects’ experience and approach in sustainable design and project site management.

As among the leading architectural firms in Malaysia, NRY Architects has been at the forefront of designing and building sustainable projects in Malaysia and beyond. Among the notable projects and design proposals are Concorde Redevelopment Project in Kuala Lumpur, KL Metropolis Master Plan, The Manhattan Kuala Lumpur, UIAM Foundation Studies Campus in Gambang, Pahang, and UOWM KDU Penang campus in Batu Kawan, Penang. All of these projects info are readily accessible on our website and can be accessed at http://nry.com.my/projects/.
